Combat hearing protection (CHP) rolled out to Australian brigades

The Australian Army needed a system to give the dismounted close combatant the ability to communicate while minimizing the harmful effects of battlefield noise.

The ensemble was rolled out in three tranches, with the first tranche to 1 Brigade in 2015. The second tranche, focusing on 3 Brigade, delivered in 2016 and the third tranche, for 7 Brigade, in 2017.

The combat hearing protection (CHP) element has provided the Tier 2 dismounted close combatant with hearing protection to keep exposure to harmful noise within acceptable limits while minimizing the disruption to the user's auditory situational awareness and abilities in performing their duties.
